SC CARES Act Grant Programs- Application Window Opens Today

As we shared with you in our post last week, the application process for two new SC CARES Act grant programs — the Minority and Small Business Relief Grant Program and the Nonprofit Relief Grant Program — begins today.  Below is general information about the programs and links with instructions on how to apply.  There is a very short application window for these grants with an application deadline of November 1, 2020.

Overview of the Two SC CARES Act Grant Programs

There are two different grants under the SC CARES Act — the Minority and Small Business Relief Grant Program and the Nonprofit Relief Grant Program. These programs award grant funds to small and minority businesses and nonprofit organizations to reimburse qualifying expenditures for providing services or for revenue loss due to COVID-19.

Minority and Small Business Grant Program

Grant Award Amounts: Will range from $2,500 to $25,000

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Employ 25 or fewer employees
  • Physically located in South Carolina
  • In operation from September 13, 2019, to present
  • Can demonstrate a financial or operational impact due to COVID-19

Application Window: October 19, 2020 – November 1, 2020

Nonprofit Relief Grant Program

Grant Awards: Will range from $2,500 to $50,000

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Designated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization by the Internal Revenue Service
  • Registered as a public charity with the South Carolina Secretary of State
  • Physically located and providing services in South Carolina
  • In operation from September 13, 2019, to present
  • Can demonstrate a financial or operational impact due to COVID-19

Application Window: October 19, 2020 – November 1, 2020
